This morning I was thinking about how much I appreciate the ladies who care for H in Sunday School and my Thursday morning Bible study. They are so genuinely kind and loving -- these ladies do things like send postcards and bring back souvenirs from vacation, remember birthdays, and just say "I love you and I missed you when you were sick last week!" These things may not mean much to a two-year-old yet, but they sure do mean a lot to her mama! So I decided to take a little shopping trip after Bible study and let her help me pick out some fun things to make some thank-you gifts for these kind ladies.
Target has some SUPER-cute fall things in their dollar bins right now, so we started with some little embroidered dish towels. H helped me pick out the owl and turkey designs. Of course, every goodie bag needs candy, so we grabbed two bags of seasonal M&Ms (white chocolate candy corn and pumpkin spice -- whoa!). Then, of course, you need some more practical items, so I got a couple of packs of Post-It Notes (two pads for each bag), a Sharpie Pen, and a pack of cute little pumpkin-shaped votives.
When we got home, H munched on M&Ms while I divvied up candies into teeny little zippered plastic bags I already had (snack-size bags would work great, too) and put all the other treats in.
I finished each bag off with a little tag I made with this awesome tag puncher I use all the time and tied it with some ribbon I already had (which couldn't have matched better if I'd planned it). I'm really happy with the result -- just a little something to show we are thinking about these sweet ladies and appreciating them, but it doesn't break the bank. (I spent around $7 per bag.)
What is your favorite thing to give (or get) in a goodie bag or basket?
